World-class Intercollegiate IT campus
The world-class intercollegiate IT Campus in Nizhny Novgorod is an ultramodern space for the education and residence of a new generation of innovators and talents in the field of digital technologies.
The planned construction period of the IT campus is until the end of 2025.
The basic training programs will be:

- cybersecurity
- artificial intelligence and recommendation systems
All these directions will be implemented jointly with the leaders of the IT market and in partnership with the leading universities of the region (N.I.Lobachevsky National University; R.E.Alekseev NSTU, NNGASU, HSE, K.Minin NSPU)
GORKY TECH
In 2021, the Regional Center for Support and Coordination of Domestic Digital Technologies and Developers "Gorky Tech" was established in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The organization operates on the "one-stop shop" principle of interaction between IT companies, the state and the real sector of the economy.
"Gorky Tech" forms an IT ecosystem of the Nizhny Novgorod Region:
- creates relationships between developers and customers
- organizes business cooperation with the scientific and educational community
- helps to attract state support measures and extra-budgetary resources for the development of projects related to IT technologies
The areas of work of ANO "Gorky Tech" are: support for IT companies and developers, promotion of domestic digital technologies, development of human capital in the IT industry, analytics and consulting in the IT industry, creation and development of information systems, as well as popularization of digital technologies.
The organization has developed digital platforms that accelerate the processes of cooperation and import substitution of foreign software and equipment:

Professionalism
In 2022, the federal project of the Ministry of Education of Russia "Professionalism" was launched in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. This is a new system of personnel training in educational institutions of secondary vocational education.
The main task is to bring the mid-level personnel training system as close as possible to market demands in specific industries.
Among the key initiatives of the project is the creation of educational and production centers (clusters). They represent the integration of colleges and organizations of the real sector of the economy.
Currently, 6 clusters have been created in the region, and by 2024 their number will increase to 10. They will train workers for such industries as:
- Metallurgy
- Car manufacturing
- Agriculture
- Construction
- Education
- Chemistry
- Radio electronics
Educational programs have been formed jointly with the supporting industrial enterprises.
Workshops
Since 2019, the region has been implementing the "Young Professionals" federal project (Increasing the competitiveness of vocational education) within the framework of the "Education" national project. In accordance with the priorities of the development of the Russian economy, the workshops create conditions for the practical training of students of secondary vocational education in accordance with modern standards and advanced technologies, including the standards of the WorldSkills Association.
The equipment of the workshops makes it possible to train specialists with scarce competencies, possessing advanced industry and the latest digital technologies.

Resource centers
Currently, there are 33 resource centers in the Nizhny Novgorod Region on the bases of 26 professional educational organizations, 1 higher education organization and 1 enterprise. Work on the creation of resource centers was carried out in the region in stages together with the largest enterprises of the region, starting in 2007.
The main goal is the formation of new qualified personnel with developed scientific and industrial and high innovative potential.

Khokhloma painting
Golden Khokhloma is one of the oldest original Russian folk crafts, which for centuries has shaped the way of life of entire generations and is an integral part of the Russian culture. A Khokhloma feature is the manufacture of gilded wooden dishes without the use of precious metals and a peculiar plant and grass painting. The symbol of Khokhloma painting is a fiery firebird decorated with bright flowers.
Kazakovskaya filigree
Kazakovskaya filigree is one of the oldest types of artistic metal working – “skan” (from old Russian “to twist”) or filigree, as this kind of jewelry technique is also called. Kazakovskoe Enterprise of Art Products, CJSC, produces a wide range of art products: decorative vases and bowls, music boxes, cup holders, vases, candy bowls, women's jewelry, teaspoons, cups, medals, badges, orders and insignia for the Russian army.
Gorodets golden embroidery
Gorodets golden embroidery is one of the oldest and most unique types of highly artistic folk arts in Russia. Embroidery, clothes and scarves richly decorated with gold were mandatory clothing items of wealthy ladies of merchant cities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, including the city of Gorodets. A sparkling pattern adorned women’s festive clothing, which was the pride of the family, it was carefully stored and passed from mother to daughter as a reliable, never depreciating capital.
Balakhna lace-making
Russian lacework appeared in the 17th century. It not only preserved and developed the best traditions of craftswomen of European countries, but also became a genuine national artistic phenomenon, the independence of which is expressed in the richness of color, a variety of techniques and the graphic nature of the ornament.
One of the famous lace centers in the 18th - 19th centuries was an ancient city on the Volga – Balakhna.
Pottery and art ceramics
Pottery in Bogorodsk has existed since the foundation of the village of Bogorodskoye in 1570. The heyday of pottery occurred at the end of the 19th, beginning of the 20th centuries, when the products of Bogorodsk craftsmen became known to most of Russia. Bogorodsk potters made a wide variety of pottery for all occasions: pots, bowls, milk jars, ewers, trays, milk buckets, field buckets, earthenware pots, jars, Easter plates, jelly cups and even samovars.
Another center of pottery and art ceramics is the city of Balakhna. Here people used the old technique of oxygen-free wood burning.
Leather works
Leatherworking in the Nizhny Novgorod governorate began to develop in the second half of the 17th century and spread to many cities. Its development was contributed by the availability of local material: oak and potash lime. The production was quite profitable. People made leather and consumer articles of it using various kinds of finishes.
Semenov painting
One of the symbols of Russia is the traditional Russian nesting doll – a bright elegant beauty with pink cheeks and scarlet roses on her apron. The ancient folk craft of making wooden toys with paintings originated in the rich in talents Nizhny Novgorod land at the beginning of the 20th century.
Glass blowing
Glass-blowing of Christmas tree decorations appeared in Nizhny Novgorod in the 60s of the last century. Glassblowers then worked in the old fashioned way and used simple kerosene burners for blowing. Toys were blown out using glass tubes.
The factory of glass Christmas-tree decorations “Ariel” continues the traditions of the production of Christmas-tree decorations made of glass, which were laid down in 1936 in Gorky, and currently has the status of an enterprise of folk art crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, there were several centers for the production of axe-chip toys. The earliest of them is Chkalovsky. Early toys of the end of the 18th – beginning of the 19th centuries include push-wheels, propellers, spinners, blacksmiths on movable slats.
